Michael Montague Joins the Quantum Biology Institute

The Quantum Biology Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Montague, a pioneering microbiologist and expert in synthetic biology, bioinformatics, and biosecurity. Montague joins QBI’s distinguished team alongside Clarice Aiello, Geoff Anders, and Alessandro Lodesani.

A leader in the field, Montague played a key role in the creation of the world’s first synthetic cell and has been at the forefront of cutting-edge research in biological systems. At QBI, he will lead groundbreaking studies using multi-omics tools to analyze how magnetic fields influence gene expression and biological function—a critical area of research in quantum biology.

In addition to his scientific contributions, Montague is a founding member of the Archimedes Network, an organization spun out from Oxford’s Future of Humanity Institute dedicated to the responsible management of risks from emerging technologies. His extensive background in biosecurity will further strengthen QBI’s commitment to advancing quantum biology with a focus on safety and ethical responsibility.

Welcome to the Quantum Biology Ecosystem!
